Books about Diversity for Toddlers
As a mother, it is my responsibility to make sure that Joanie grows up with a kind heart and soul. It’s never too early to start teaching your child about diversity, and it’s my goal to start reading books with her that feature diverse characters more often. Books give you a glimpse into someone else's story, and it’s so important for children to see and recognize that others can be different from you, and are still beautiful. I decided to do my research on books and I put together a list for you of books that feature diversity.
Looking through Joanie’s current library, we didn’t have many books about diversity, and I am excited to change that. We have this Sesame Street book, which is one of her new favorites. It was my book as a child, and I’m so glad I’m able to read it with her now. This book has such an incredible message. We also have “Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls” which highlights stories about women all over the world who accomplished amazing things.
