Hi.

Sharing our 1920’s farmhouse renovations, home decor, homesteading life, and my motherhood journey as a girl mom. I’m so glad you’re here!

Modern Farmhouse Office

I’m so excited to finally do a reveal of Richard’s home office! Since he works from home sometimes, he really wanted his own space that wasn’t a bedroom or common area that he could get work done. When we first toured the model home when we decided to build, the office was one of the things that sold us on this floorpan! The office is right when you walk into the house on the other side of the entryway, and I love that it’s separate from everything else in the house. Joanie can be loud at times during the day, so it’s nice that his office is as far away from the noise as possible.

We’ve been trying to pick out a rug since moving in that would give this room a modern farmhouse feel, and I’ve been loving woods with black accents recently. When I saw this jute rug, I knew it would be perfect for this space! I surprised Richard with it for Christmas, and am so glad that he loved it! You can shop the rug here. We have the 6 x 9 size.

We bought this bookshelf and side table from Kirklands and love the modern farmhouse look of them. We needed a side table that was big enough to hold Richard’s printer and had to look at a few before we found this one. I love the natural wood color against our wood floors. I’m still working on styling the bookshelf a little bit. It’s funny that whenever I see styled bookshelves, there’s never any books on them, and we have a lot of books!

This chair is definitely one of my favorite purchases I’ve made recently! I fell in love with this buffalo plaid chair from Target as soon as I saw it. I kept eyeing it whenever I was at Target (which is all time haha) and decided to buy it when I saw they were selling out. We had been talking about adding an accent chair in the office, and I love how it looks in here! This one is sold out, but there may be some still at your local Target. If not, here is a similar one that is also super cute!

Richard uses 3 different computers at his desk when he works, so he needed a larger than average desk. We actually found this dining table that we’re using as his desk on Facebook marketplace! I always recommend checking there for furniture! Richard’s vintage American Flag is one of our favorite statement pieces for his office, especially since he served in the Navy. Thank you to everyone who has served in the military!

I’ve always been obsessed with this highland cow picture from Kirklands, and have moved it all over our house. I finally found the perfect spot for it here above our buffalo check chair! This woven basket adds texture to the room and serves as a much needed storage bin. Y’all should see everything that’s underneath that blanket! Some eucalyptus stems in a vase add a nice touch of greenery to this side of the room for a little bit of color.

There’s not much on the other side of the room except for a faux fiddle fig that fills out this corner with some greenery, and a wooden paper tray from World Market. I’ve started to make a little gallery wall on this side of the room too.

Last but not least are this bookshelf and computer chair. We actually started off with a completely different computer chair that had a prettier aesthetic, but it was so uncomfortable that we needed to switch it out for a better one. This chair actually has a really nice chestnut color that matches our modern farmhouse theme, and the comfort level is much better! We found this bookshelf/console table from Kirklands to house some more of Richard’s books. I need to style the top with a few more things, but overall, it’s coming together!
