Joanie's 1st Birthday: Classic Winnie the Pooh Theme

Joanie's 1st Birthday: Classic Winnie the Pooh Theme

I can’t believe my baby is officially a one year old! I had been planning her Classic Winnie the Pooh themed birthday party since February, with big plans to make this the best day for her. Joanie has loved Winnie the Pooh and I fell in the love with the colors and vibe of the vintage Pooh characters, so I knew that’s what I wanted her theme to be. All of our friends and family would be here to celebrate, or so we thought.  My emotions were at a high when I knew her birthday party wouldn’t be able to happen because of the pandemic and social distancing measures that have been put in place. This is such a milestone birthday, and it crushed me to know it wouldn’t be able to happen the way I envisioned for her.

Since everything had already been purchased and planned, I decided we would throw a birthday party for her anyways, with just our little family in attendance. I wanted to her to have these pictures to look back on, where she would think she must have had the best birthday party ever, especially since she’d be too young to remember it was during a pandemic. So, we (I mean my husband), installed this balloon arch from Something Fun in the Air that was porch delivered to us the night before. They weren’t able to install it as originally planned, so she walked us through it on the phone. It tuned out GORGEOUS. I added some silver dollar eucalyptus stems throughout it from The Bloom Stall and it was transformed into the balloon arch of my Pinterest dreams.

The Pooh bear wall tapestry was an Amazon find, and Jo’s vintage Pooh bear birthday dress, bib, and high chair banner were all Etsy finds. I will link all of her party decor below. A local bakery, Baked in Nashville, made both her smash cake and the adult cake, and they were seriously works of art. Part of me was a little sad to watch Joanie destroy hers and when I had to cut slices out of the bigger cake, just because of how beautiful they were! They were both delicious so I got over that quickly haha.

Even though I couldn’t give Joanie a party with her family and friends, we took videos of her cake smash to share with everybody and did a Facetime session with the grandparents. She enjoyed her cake and had a blast eating it. I hope that when Joanie is older to look back at pictures, she knows that her mom and dad did everything they could to make this day so special for her, and that she is so extremely loved.
